On Dating

They were together for maybe a week. Maybe. They happened to show up at the same movie one night and she just sat next to him. By the end, she was holding his hand and resting her head on his shoulder. She even at all of his popcorn. The next day, she decided they were dating. She came over for dinner once and his parents loved her. Absolutely adored her. When dinner was over, he went up to his room. She stayed at the table, chatting with his parents. When they weren't together, she would call him and text him relentlessly. He answered, sure, but with short phrases like "k" and "yeah." By Friday, she was at the end of her rope. She wasn't getting the attention that she thought she deserved and she knew that he wouldn't take a hint. When she broke up with him, she cried. Her friends called him a dick. Her mother let her come home from school early that day.
He didn't even take the time to delete her number from his phone. She'd been the one to put it in anyway.
