Loss

This pen in a box, out of ink
This hat, nailed to my head
My hands under water,
But no soap can wash the dirt from inside my ring
A hammer in a pit
Your dalmation in my yard
One bee in a hive
And a book I kept shut.
Torn shoes.
Tattered sleeves.
I pump blood with my lungs
And breath air with my heart.
